PD2 in M&D livery for sale

1956 Leyland PD2 bus with 62 seat, rear platform MCW Orion body. Newly out-shopped from BusWorks of Blackpool last Oct after restoration work and repainting into green and cream Maidstone & District livery. Brand new re-trim with period M&D moquette. Will come with new Class 5 MOT until Feb 2011. Not an original M&D bus, but looks the part.

There are very few Maidstone & District half cab double deckers left and this one would be a welcome addition to the rally scene in the SE. Mechanically it is fine; it made the 300 mile journey from Blackpool to Kent at a steady 35mph and didn't use any water and very little oil. Turned in 10.8 mpg. The bus is located in a secure barn between Crawley and Horsham in Sussex. It may be possible to keep it there, subject to agreement. £13000 (which is what it cost to restore it) ono. Might consider exchange or part exchange for something smaller or more modern but preferably pre-1972. Potteries Leyland National for sale

Early Leyland National Mk.1: New as PVT 231L in 1972 to PMT in Stoke-on-Trent, 52-seater, based at Hanley. Passed to West Riding (Wakefield) as No. 85 in February 1987 and became exhibition unit 85 in "Ridings Travel" livery (a WR subsidiary). Re-registered to 544 WRA (West Riding Automobiles) in 1987. Re-registered to FWW 215L in July 1989. Sold to Kirklees Metropolitan Council (Huddersfield) in May 1990, and to Ideas in Motion (Dublin) as ZV 8016 in 2005 as an exhibition unit, in which format it still remains. Currently used as store/canteen and 590 engine is a runner. Ideal for parts or further use as store/canteen/office - reinstatement to bus format would be a serious preservation challenge. CAV Semi-Automatic Gear Selector Wanted

Wanted; CAV487A-1 gear selector (modern type generally mounted on off-side of cab). This particular version of the unit has a top left 'start' position, four forward speed selection, plus reverse top right and was fitted to late build Leyland Fleetlines. Could exchange for 487 type selector as fitted to automatic AN68 vehicles with positions 'start', H3, H4, auto and reverse as we have plenty of these available.

Leyland Engine and gearbox wanted

We are well on with the restoration of a 1986 Leyland Olympian, but we reckon the engine is past its best, and the gearbox has been proving difficult too. It would be a good idea to replace the engine and gearbox, so can anyone point us in the direction of a Gardner 6LXB direct coupled to the gearbox? I believe a Dennis Dominator has a similar arrangement. Our vehicle is C655 LFT, a Leyland Olympian ONLXB1R, new to Busways in the North East of England. Stagecoach later took over this operation and the batch of 65 vehicles was withdrawn around 3-4 years ago, with many vehicles going to other Stagecoach operators in the UK.

We could purchase a complete vehicle with a good drive train, with a view to transplanting this in our vehicle and we would scrap the rest of the vehicle. Bristol parts wanted

Wanted: One pair of 8" tall orange lenses for the front/side indicators on 1960s ECW bus bodies. These were also used by C.H.Roe too. Mine are fitted to a 1968 Bristol VR, the plastic lens is 8" tall and mounts into an straight-sided aluminium casting which protects the lens at the top and bottom. Manufactured by Frankmann who were based in Wigan.

Leyland Body Framing Wanted

Wanted: Any spare lengths of body framing required for a 1947 Weymann bodied PD1. The type we need is the metal framing used on the uprights - the sort that a wooden fillet is inserted into. The same type of framing was used by Metro-Cammell, but is not the same type as used on the Orion series. We only require a number of short lengths to replace some of the non-structural sections that have corroded, so even offcuts might help. VRT front dome wanted

Wanted by Merseyside Transport Trust to assist the restoration of the last known surviving Merseyside PTE Bristol VRT; an East Lancs Fibreglass front dome (with peak) in reasonable condition or a mould from which one could be re-manufactured. Leyland O.600 engine oil filters

These filters are now obsolete as the major manufacturers discontinued production at least four years ago, and residual stocks have now dried up. The Greater Manchester Transport Society based at the Museum of Transport in Manchester successfully commissioned a small production run of filters in 2008 and now has a further stock available for sale. This filter is of quality Scandinavian manufacture and is equivalent to the following Leyland and other filter makers' part numbers;

Common applications that we know are;

The price for each filter is £20 and includes the gasket for the filter housing lid. Very old bits for sale!

Three interesting elderly chassis and parts available, used for sixty years as farm trailers: i) Leyland chassis, ii) Star Engineering chassis, iii) Morris Commercial chassis, iv) W G Du Cross front axle. Items ii and iii are in poor condition as they have been burnt to destroy the rotten trailers, but axles and parts intact but of course well-rusted. Do any of these vehicles still exist?

I am wondering if anyone knows if any of the following vehicles have been preserved, or may even be available for preservation;

1) Marshall Camair bodied Leyland Panther made (almost exclusively) for Northern General or any of its subsidiary companies (Tynemouth, Tyneside or Sunderland & District). There were another 3 that were ordered by Stratford Blue, but were delivered to Preston Corporation - one of which (I think) was registered AUE 310J.

2) Alexander bodied Leyland Panther made for Glasgow Corporation (with PYS-G registrations) and/or Newcastle Corporation or Tyne & Wear (with NTN-E, SVK-G, UVK-G and/or KBB-L registrations)

3) Alexander bodied Leyland Atlantean for Edinburgh City Transport of the 301 - 350 batch (PSC 301G to PSC 350G)

Where are these RWs?

We are attempting to locate the owners of two 1960 AEC Reliance / Willowbrook bodied vehicles (496 ALH) and (497 ALH). Previous owners were London Transport , Chesterfield Corp, and Brutonian. I have been approached by a member of the Brooke's family for information on this small bus and coach operator. Black & White in colour

Does anyone know what colours were used on the interior, including the seats, of the Black & White Bristol L6G coaches with Duple bodies, such as HDD 654?
