UR-PAS at Skopje

During 1999 we operated a large number of charters within Europe, including around 20 aid flights with relief goods for the Kosovo refugees. These flights originated from various points around Europe and the Mediterranean area (the aircraft was based at the time at Manston / Kent International Airport in the UK), carrying a variety of cargoes ranging from vehicles and blankets to water pumps and buckets. Destinations were mainly Tirana (Albania), Skopje (Macedonia) and Pristina (Kosovo), and the picture shows our Antonov An-12 UR-PAS being offloaded at Skopje on one of the flights. In this case the cargo was being shipped from Oxfam, UK to the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR). Our crews are fully experienced at handling these specialised flights, and Veteran Airlines flew more relief missions into the area than any other An-12 operator.

Since 2000 the fleet has been constantly busy with contractual work in Africa.

Cargo Hold Dimensions; 13.50 (L) x 2.95 (W) x 2.40 (H) metres. The height increases up to 2.80 metres in certain areas of the cabin.

VETERAN AIRLINES

Veteran Airlines is a cargo operation based in Djankoy, Crimea, Republic of Ukraine.

Incorporated in 1992, Veteran has a fleet of Antonov An-12 freighter aircraft, and also operates the multi-purpose Antonov An-2 agricultural aircraft, as well as running a flying school.

Skyline Aviation Ltd. is proud to represent Veteran Airlines for worldwide sales, and have been using their aircraft very successfully since 1995.

Veteran's aircraft are all civilian-registered in the Republic of Ukraine, and have been expertly converted to commercial configuration after their previous military use by the Russian or Ukrainian Air Forces. This conversion, and all maintenance, is conducted at their home airport of Djankoy, Crimea (previously a Ukrainian Air Force transport base).

All technical work is undertaken with the guidance and supervision of the Ukrainian Civil Aviation Authority and the Antonov Design Bureau, who are based in Ukraine, so access to their expertise is readily available.

Veteran Airlines has been engaged in a variety of specialist activities, such as the parachute dropping of men and vehicles at the North Pole, airborne fire extinguishing, disaster relief programs and the carriage of outsized cargoes.
